The Challenge of Linguistic Diversity
Arunachal Pradesh is home to immense linguistic diversity, encompassing dozens of distinct tribal languages and dialects. However, most of these languages have limited or no digital presence—lacking structured text corpora, transcribed speech datasets, lexicons, and computational documentation essential for the digital era.
Without dedicated language infrastructure, indigenous languages risk complete exclusion from modern digital tools, speech interfaces, and educational technologies. AI4Arunachal addresses this fundamental gap by mobilizing community participation to develop foundational linguistic resources and sustainable language technologies.

Speech Recognition
Researching and developing Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) pipelines to transcribe spoken indigenous dialects and oral narratives into structured text.
Neural Translation
Building machine translation models and parallel text corpora to enable bi-directional translation between indigenous dialects, English, and regional languages.

Tungon Dugi
NLP Researcher & AI/ML Expert
Tungon (Reri) Dugi is an NLP researcher and doctoral scholar at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Arunachal Pradesh, focusing on low-resource Neural Machine Translation (NMT) and Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR).
Dedicated to language preservation through artificial intelligence, he leads research on building parallel corpora and speech datasets for the Tani language family and other regional dialects, working toward accessible, sustainable language technologies.
Top 100 Startups for APEDP 5.0 & Incubation at APIIP
AI4Arunachal has been selected as one of the Top 100 Startups under the prestigious Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Development Program (APEDP 5.0), awarded an INR 8 Lakh seed fund grant. We are currently incubating under the Arunachal Pradesh Innovation and Investment Park (APIIP) in Itanagar.
As the apex incubation and entrepreneurship platform under the state's Startup Arunachal initiative by the Department of Planning & Investment, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, APIIP provides vital mentorship and incubation support. Through this initiative, AI4Arunachal is accelerating the development of foundational speech corpora, translation datasets, and sustainable language technologies to support long-term language infrastructure across indigenous communities.
